Tubes differ from pipes in that they are specified by exact outside diameter and wall thickness tolerances, used primarily for structural, heat-transfer and precision mechanical applications rather than fluid conveyance.

Applicable Standards: ASTM A179, ASTM A214, ASTM A519, EN 10305, DIN 2391

Manufacturing Process: Cold-drawn or cold-rolled from hot-finished seamless or welded mother tube; annealed or normalised to achieve close tolerances.

Heat Treatment: Normalise 830–860 °C; Harden 820–850 °C, quench in oil/water; Temper 550–660 °C.
